North India Cold Wave: Delhi government retracts plan for schools to have a longer winter holiday.

North India Cold Wave: Because of the intense cold, the Delhi government quickly retracted an order extending the winter break for schools. The directive, which was first issued in reference to the IMD’s alarm, was extended until January 10. The Education Department did, however, retract the order after admitting to a mistake and making hints about possible future orders. This reversal was caused by unusually low temperatures—between 12 and 18°C—that were experienced in some areas of Delhi and the surrounding areas.
