All Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated to CBSE board. The merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the All India Sainik School Entrance Examination. It is prepared separately school wise category wise for boys and girls.
There are a total of 5 Rashtriya Military Schools in the country. In these schools, admissions are done in 6th and 9th class. Admission in these schools is also given through the entrance examination conducted at the national level. For this, candidates have to give common entrance test. For 6th admission, the age of the child should be minimum 10 years and maximum 12 years. Similarly, for admission in class 9th, the age of the candidate should not be less than 13 years and not more than 15 years. The age of the candidates will be calculated from 31st March of the year of admission.
National Military Schools are in Bengaluru in Karnataka, Chail, Belgaum in Himachal Pradesh and Dholpur and Ajmer in Rajasthan.
